My statement on the childhood sexual abuse scandal
These Senators had an opportunity to provide victims of childhood sexual abuse with a day in court, and they walked away.
They have a supermajority. They can get any bill they want through the Senate, even without a majority of their caucus. And they did nothing. Senator John Rafferty sat on his hands. He could have spoken out, he could have said he disagreed with his leadership. Instead, he was silent, and he is guilty in his silence.
I will never walk away from victims. I will be right there in January, when we pick up this fight again, demanding that we vote on a bill that gives victims the justice they deserve, and not a sham bill that protects the abusers.
