People for the American Way (PFAW) event at the National Press Club

💙Yesterday, I had the honor to be a part of a panel discussion hosted by PFAW at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. with three amazing candidates Rachel Crooks for Ohio, Anna Eskamani, candidate for Florida State House, District 47, and Myya Jones For State Representative District 4, to discuss how the #MeToo movement impacted our decision to run for office and how it impacts our candidacies.

💙Thank you to all of the brave survivors of sexual misconduct, harassment, assault and abuse who’ve shared their stories which gave me the courage to share my own, some of which are my friends, former student athletes, volunteers and fellow candidates. And to those who aren’t ready to share, know that you are brave and worthy, and that I’m fighting alongside you.

I hope that more people, especially male ally bystanders, intervene to stop rape culture and end this epidemic of abuse of power, will rise up and speak the truth, and hold perpetrators accountable, including people in positions of power, such as elected officials.
