SENATOR KATIE MUTH RESPONDS TO PERSONAL ATTACKS AND FABRICATED POLITICAL HIT PIECES

As a general rule of thumb, I don’t react or respond to political hit pieces that are the absolute worst parts of politics.  Well, it shouldn’t come as a surprise, but when you tell the truth and aren’t afraid to take on bad actors regardless of their party…you earn some enemies.  Get your pen and paper ready while I connect the dots for you.

Some of you might have received disgusting mailers in your inbox over the past few days, paid for a by a group claiming they are Democrats supporting my opponent.  The recent PAC that was created was done so to smear my reputation by a group of individuals loyal to former State Senator Daylin Leach, who lost his bid for re-election in 2020 after losing nearly all of the support from the Democratic party and the district that he served.  The same bad actors that supported sexual predator Daylin Leach in 2018 and beyond (i.e. Philly Realtor and Daylin apologist, Abe Haupt, who started 'Democrats for Rafferty' after I called out Daylin Leach for his inexcusable behavior) are now using right-wing fringe media outlets like Broad and Liberty and the Delaware Valley Journal as a venue to attack my character and influence the outcome of this election.

Facebook and Twitter pages linked to the PAC lead to Jesse Civello, a life-long Republican and former field director for the GOP and Dan David who lost to Congresswoman Madeleine Dean in 2018.

It is unfortunate that online “journalists” continue to allow self-serving political motivations and special interests to push a disgusting, defamatory narrative that continues to stoop to embarrassingly low levels and now uses the lost lives of our veterans as a pawn in a political game. Not only is Major General Eric Weller lying in his testimony, but he should be ashamed considering he was forced to retire due to his poor leadership which resulted in dozens of veterans dying in the state-run veteran's homes that he oversaw.

Not surprisingly, my opponent has accepted their help in a last-ditch effort to salvage her campaign.  This wouldn't be the first time that she aligned herself with an individual forced to resign, as her first campaign fundraiser was hosted by former Republican Chairman, Val Digiorgio, who was ousted after trading sexually explicit text messages with candidates.

While my opponent and those looking to smear my name are focused on using patently false and uncorroborated claims, as the co-chair of the bi-partisan LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, I have been championing legislation aimed at advancing the rights and protections for LGBTQ+ individuals across Pennsylvania.  I am proud to have once again earned the support of the Human Rights Campaign and Ricky's Pride, who value my strong voice for the LGBTQ+ community in the Senate and I look forward to continuing that work after November.

Personal vendettas have no place in government or in politics. This election should be about issues and the ability to make an impact for our constituents and for all Pennsylvania residents. Since the beginning of this campaign, I have been subjected to outright lies, deceptive mailers paid for by dark money, and solicited, libelous articles in sham online publications like Broad and Liberty. The people of SD44 deserve better than my opponent and her coordinated smear campaign funded by bad actors and sexual predators.
